Another ridiculously late basketball post game...

He's starting to just make it look easy
While the majority of USU fans were stuck in the fallout of a crushing loss in the Potato Bowl, the basketball team was happily reminding people that they are rapidly turning into a force to be reckoned with. Seattle was dominated for just about the whole game, ending with a 78-53 final for USU in which the Aggies held Seattle under 30 percent shooting on the night.

Preston Medlin continued his merciless reign of terror on opposing defenses Saturday, going for 22 points and four rebounds. He also hit 3-of-5 shots from deep to up his 3-point shooting percentage over the last six games to 54.5 percent. He's also shooting just under 82 percent from the free throw line. Really, the stat-sheet has pretty much becomes Pre-Med's bitch since he went 0-fer against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Not sure if that was something that just set him off or not, but he's been a maniac since then.

Now though, Pre-Med isn't looking like the only star out on the wings with Danny Berger putting up his third straight double-digit scoring game. He was also tied for the team-lead in rebounds and steals, while holding sole possession for the lead in assists Saturday. That's the kind of consistency that no other wing player not named Medlin has showed this year, and one would think that a starting spot is about to open up for Berger.

Kyisean Reed landed on 13 points for the fourth time this season, and for whatever reason can't seem to score more than that. Either way, his production has been great down there, and given USU some extra inside presence to take pressure off of the guards.

Solid games from Ben Clifford and E.J. Farris rounded out the eye-openers on the box score from Saturday. In Clifford's case, if he can consistently make life difficult on the crappy teams, you've got to think that he's going to start making some impact when he's called upon in bigger games. It won't happen overnight, but he's putting it together.

The biggest thing about Saturday was that this team looks confident now. They are starting to really click with running the offense and the results are obvious. With how the defense has held teams to low scores and low shooting, this team looks like they could really start doing some good things with consistent scoring like they've shown the capability to do the last two games.

With three games in three days this week, it'll be a good time to see how this team can do things against different competition with little time to prepare. Also, hopefully Brockeith Pane can get things figured out offensively this week. Seeing Morgan Grim get back to the level of scoring he showed capable of early on would be nice, but if enough scoring is coming from Medlin, Berger and Reed, Grim's defense and rebounding will be good enough to win games, because both of those things have been pretty solid all year (despite Grim not being allowed to play defense at all Saturday).

Player of the Game: Preston Medlin
