Spectrum Magic

Top 10 teams = no match for The Spectrum at its best
Spectrum Magic is something that can't really be explained. It's something that you've either experienced it or you haven't, and you don't really know until you see it right in front of you. It's the kind of thing that can make a seemingly impossible win turn into almost a sure thing. And it's the kind of thing that can pick up a team from whatever hole they might be in and carry them back to greatness.

There's only one team that gets the benefit of having The Spectrum on their side though. One team that knows that the best student section in the nation is on their side. One team that can stare down the barrel of defeat and not even flinch when The Spectrum elevates to its capability.

Spectrum Magic is an underdog USU team beating the No. 9 ranked team in the country. Spectrum Magic is the Aggies going on a 10-0 run in the final 80 seconds of a game to win by one point. Spectrum Magic is making so much damn noise that players are getting temporary vertigo on the court. Spectrum Magic is the undying X-factor of Utah State basketball.

We all know by now what the nation says about Utah State basketball fans. They say the Aggie fans are the best in the nation. They know that we do things better than anybody else out there.

Now though... Now it's time to remind the Aggies that we're the best there is. Right now we have a team of young guys, most who have yet to get their first taste of Spectrum Magic. We have a team that is still finding its way to greatness, in need of a crowd that knows greatness unlike any other. With one dynasty of players leaving following last season, this new group of players has a new dynasty to carve out for themselves.

This is where the legend of The Spectrum can take charge. Utah State fans, rather than wait for the weather to be fair with their team, take such commanding control of a game day atmosphere and so brutally intimidate another team, all while firing up our own Aggies, that we make the weather fair all by ourselves.

Utah State has won 70 of the last 72 basketball games played in The Spectrum. And even though the seemingly unimaginable happened Wednesday with a visiting team winning in our house, that only signals that now, more than ever, it is time for Spectrum Magic to show its dominance once again.

The next winning streak begins Tuesday against Utah Valley, the next legend of The Spectrum is still unwritten for this season and the Utah State student section has a harsh reminder to send out to the rest of the college basketball world...

See you on Tuesday.
